Climate change and net zero emissions:
In 2021, Desjardins Group launched an ambitious action plan to tackle climate change. Building on its past accomplishments, Desjardins has renewed its commitment to climate action and is broadening the scope of its efforts to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Ultimately, Desjardins Group aims to achieve net zero emissions by 2040 in its extended operations and in its lending activities and investments in 3 key carbon-intensive sectors: energy, transportation and real estate.
As Desjardins Group’s institutional asset manager, DGAM will play an integral and leading role in this action plan. We are currently in the process of evaluating a number of initiatives, including the Net Zero Asset Managers Initiative, which seeks to bring asset managers worldwide in line with the goal of net zero GHG emissions. DGAM also belongs to an investor group, in partnership with UNEP-FI, that focuses on target setting and methodology around the Taskforce on Climate-related Disclosures (TCFD).
Combining innovation, accessibility and discipline, we design solutions tailored to our clients’ unique needs. We infuse our cooperative values into our investment process to ensure we are helping our partners and clients’ assets grow in a sustainable and responsible manner.
